Application Notes
The enantiomers of the amino acid carnitine were separated by reversed phase HPLC using a Chirobiotic Tag column and detected by UV at 210nm.
Carnitine, Astec Application Report 5005
Carnitine, CAS No. 461-06-3, an amino acid was separated into its two respective enantiomers by isocratic elution in around 20 minutes by reversed phase HPLC on an Astec Chirobiotic Tag column (250 x 4.6mm, Part No. 14024) using water, methanol, acetic acid, (85:15), 0.1% TEAA, pH 6.0. The enantiomers were detected by UV at 210nm.
In HPLC, ultraviolet (UV) detectors measure absorption of radiation from chromophores in eluted compounds over the range 190-400nm.
Astec (Advanced Separation Technologies) is a leader in the production and sale of chiral chromatography columns for LC and capillary GC.
