17-hydroxyprogesterone is a naturally produced steroid measured in blood serum to test for adrenal steroid deficiency. It is most often measured using HPLC.
17-hydroxyprogesterone: CAS No. 68-96-2, C21H30O3, molecular weight 330.45, melting point 216-218°C, vapor pressure 0.00mm Hg at 25°C, flash point none, slightly water soluble is a white crystalline powder. It is a steroid naturally produced in the adrenal glands, gonads and placenta, is a metabolic product of progesterone and 17-hydroxypregnenolone and is a cortisol precursor. It is most frequently measured in blood serum to test for adrenal steroid deficiency. It is most often measured using HPLC techniques.
A mixture of four steroids, progesterone, testosterone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone and hydrocortisone was separated by reversed phase HPLC/ELSD using supercritical fluid chromatography.
