Testosterone is an anabolic steroid produced by the body and manufactured synthetically. It is most often measured using GC/MS and HPLC.
testosterone: CAS No. 58-22-0, C19H28O2, molecular weight 288.41, melting point 155°C, vapor pressure 0.00mm Hg at 25°C, non flammable, slightly water soluble is a white crystalline solid prepared synthetically by conversion of other steroids such as cholesterol. The important intermediate dehydroandrosterone is efficiently transformed into testosterone by microbial processes. It is an androgenic steroid; the male sex hormone produced by the testis. It has six times the androgenic activity of its metabolic product, androsterone. It is used as an anabolic steroid, a muscle-building compound. It is most often measured in blood plasma, urine and commercial preparations using GC/MS and HPLC to detect the presence of illegal steroids.
A mixture of four steroids, progesterone, testosterone, 17-hydroxyprogesterone and hydrocortisone was separated by reversed phase HPLC/ELSD using supercritical fluid chromatography.
Steroids by HPLC/ELSDFour steroids (hydrocortisone, prednisone, testosterone and progesterone) were separated by HPLC/ELSD.
Testosterone by HPLC/ELSDThe anabolic steroids testosterone and epitesterone were separated by HPLC/ELSD.
