The significance of equation (18) needs to be discussed. When there are no forces between the element and the stationary phase (i.e., (DHo) is zero) the standard entropy is -0.9094. This will be the entropy change that occurs when the element environment changes from a gas to that of a liquid. Thus, (y) represents, the standard phase-transfer entropy.
