The chosen column was assumed to be 40 cm long, 2 cm I.D., having a dead volume of 75.4 ml (). The maximum sample volume was calculated for a range of separation ratio values (a) and capacity ratio values (k) for the first eluted peak. The results are shown in figure 2.
